Dear viewers,
The Planet of the Apes series Directed by Rupert Wyatt and Matt Reeves starting in 2011-2017 is one of the greatest trilogy’s I have ever watched. All of the themes, emotion and action always has you on the edge of your seat.
In the First movie, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a baby monkey shows oddly high intelligence for a chimp. He gets in trouble and gets put in an chimpanzee shelter and gets mistreated. He finds a way to escape and make his fellow chimpanzees have a higher IQ. They take over the city and start their colony. In the second movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Caesar and the apes make their own kingdom in a very forest and jungle like San Francisco and stumble upon humans. Humans need to get to a dam but the apes are in the way and Caesar is skeptical. He comes to a conclusion to let them but Caesars’ friend Koba does not like this, Koba wants to do something about this so he does something that turns into a war, but Caesar has a plan. In the last movie War of the Planet of the Apes, Caesar has to finish what Koba started but the army is involved. Caesar tries to infiltrate the base but gets caught, but you already know Caesar always finds a way, but at what cost. Watch to find out.
The Cast is also really good., the whole production team of the series created a master piece with this trilogy. Andy Serkis (Caesar, the main character) has won multiple awards including, Saturn’s award for best supporting actor in “Rise of the planet of the apes”, San Francisco Film critics circle best actor in “War of the planet of the apes”, winner of Utah’s film critics association’s best actor, Los Angeles online film critics society best animated/visual effects performance in “War of the planet of the apes” and winner of Empire Awards best actor. The production team has won multiple awards including multiple VES awards Annie awards, Saturn awards, and much more.
The themes of the trilogy were meaningful, and left an impact on the audience. For example Koba’s experience with humans was only the bad part, like getting tortured or being a test subject. On the other hand Caesar was treated like a child he lived a great young hood. This is why Koba wanted to fight humans and Caesar did not. There is also a theme of envy because Koba wanted to be the leader of the apes so bad but he did not achieve this because he was so feared and Caesar got his spot back. And there is also a theme of loyalty because when Koba had his little time of being the leader, the followers of Caesar became prisoners because Koba said, “They were to loyal to Caesar.”
I would recommend this movie to anyone and any age because it has has a such a great plot and has a very meaningful message. This movie can be rewatched multiple times, as I have watched it at least five times already. You build sympathy for all the characters in these movies because you watch them change and go on in the movies. The last movie is very sad and I can almost guarantee tears will be shed.
I rate this trilogy a overall 5 stars. This trilogy is my favorite of all time the time line is really good and overall entertainment is immaculate. The setting is good, the climax is exciting and the ending of each movie is great. Favorite part of this trilogy is watching their colony grow and my least favorite is honestly nothing, this trilogy is absolute cinema.
In conclusion, The planet of the apes trilogy is a fantastic movie for anyone. From the first movie to the last it has lots of good pros and minimal cons like setting, themes, morals and much more.
Sincerley,
Donnivan
