50 First Dates

Dear watchers,

Imagine waking up everyday and having to win over the love of your life again and again. The American romance movie 50 First Dates  is arguably one of the best comedy romance movies of all time. The movie stars two actors Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. The movie was filmed in Oahu, Hawaii and was released in 2004. Drew Barrymore, and Adam Sandler, have shot three movies together: The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and the most recent one  Blended. The recommended age for this move is PG 13 for its inappropriate language and jokes but overall it’s not that bad. If I had one wish about this movie, I would wish to watch it  for the first time again. I strongly recommend this movie and I gerente that it will not disappoint.

In the movie Drew Barrymore  plays  one of the main characters Lucy Whitmore, your typical girl  who spends most of her time teaching art in Hawaii. and While Lucy may seem like a normal girl, Lucy suffers from anterograde amnesia, a serious condition where she wakes up every day and is convinced its still Sunday, October 13 the day of her accident,  it all started when her and her dad were driving to get a pineapple for his birthday. For them it was just a regular day but when a cow ran in front of the car causing them to swerve off the road it definitely was not a normal day. Luckily her dad only broke a few ribs and came out with no long-term injuries Lucy did not get as lucky and suffered from serious brain damage.

In 50 first dates Adam Sanler plays the other main character Henry Roth, a typical American guy  who also lives in Hawaii. Henry spends most of his time with sea animals and works at an aquarium as a marine veterinarian,  Henry also likes to spend time  dating tourists on the island.  On the other hand Henry made a  promise to  himself that he could never date a local but that promise was soon to be broken.

One day, Henry's was testing out his boat broke and all was well up until a pole snapped it half, in result, he called the coast guard. As he was waiting for the coast guards to tow his boat he decided to go to a nearby cafe. And as soon as he walked in he saw a girl building a house out of waffles. Henry noticed how how pretty she looked with her curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Dispute her looks henry couldn’t help but notice they way she was talking with the employees like she knew them. Henry can to relize she was a local and reminded himself about the rule and planed to forget about it completely. The next day, Henry went to the same cafe and saw Lucy again. Lucy was making the same thing as yesterday but she couldn’t figure out how to make the door open and close. Dispute Henry’s promise he came up to her and fixed her house, Lucy asked him to sit with her and Henry sat down with no hesitation. They both made a plan too come back the next day but when Henry returned Lucy had no memory of him. The owner of the store sue pulled him outside and told him about the incident dispute this Henry started coming back every day and trying different ways to get Lucys attention but one day a police officer gave Lucy a ticket because her license plate was expired but Lucy was still convinced it was oc13th that same day her dad told her what they did every day to keep her from knowing.

Knowing this information you can only imagine how much Henry must like her if  willing to give up his whole life just so he could maybe one day be with her. Henry faced many challenges but he didn’t give up. He tried countless ways to get her attention but he just kept falling. But Henry was determined, he made a video that she watched every morning about her condition and every time she was devastated. Lucy loved him but loving him hurt she erased him completely until one day Henry saw her and told her “You erased me from your memories because you thought you were holding me back from having a full and happy life. But you made a mistake. Being with you is the only way I could have a full and happy life. You're the girl of my dreams... and apparently, I'm the man of yours.” This quote really proves how much he is willing to sacrifice for her. He risked his hopes and dreams of sailing across Alaska that he worked extremely hard for but him it simply wasn’t important anymore. This goes to show that no matter what you think is important love will always be more important. In the end of the movie Lucy woke up in a boat and saw a tape called that said “good morning Lucy!” The clip told her what happened since October 13 and she went up to the dock of the boat and saw Henry with their kid. Now that you know the ending you know how the movie also teaches us that practice makes perfect. Henry practiced and practice until he got perfect and it came to show that no matter what as long as you don’t give up you can achieve anything.

 

In concussion, this movie teaches us that love is the most important thing and  that hard work pays off . If I were to rate this movie out of 10 I would say it was a 7.8/10. I highly recommend watching this movie and I can guarantee that it will not disappoint you. But overall I have watched this movie countless times and it is still my go to comfort movie. I really hope you decide to watch 50 first dates and if you like it I recommend watching blended.
