Break Point? More like: Fixed Point

Dear Viewers,

If you are in search of a highly rated tennis TV show, then I would recommend BreakPoint as a must watch TV show. Breakpoint is an amazing television show that follows different tennis stars though different tournaments throughout the year. For example, director Jay Karas followed Nick Kyrgios, Francés Tiafoe, and Alexander Zverev through different energising tournaments with each contest, a new challenge arises. BreakPoint’s highest rated episode on IMDB is Under Pressure with 7.8/10 stars which is about an amazing player(Francis Tiafoe)who plays at the US Open and begins to realize his full potential on the court.

Furthermore, Karas followed Francis Tiafoe in Under Pressure Season 1 Episode 9, through the US Open as he rushed into his prime taking down one of the best players in the world like Rafael Nadal. Big Foe(Francis Tiafoe) was the last American man in the draw, so of course all the pressure was on him to stay and fight till the end. In the show, the voice of Francis’s coach overplays the sounds of the match and gives Francis hope to come out and beat the crap out of Rafa.

Also in BreakPoint, Karas decided to observe many players through ups, and downs. For instance, in the episode Unfinished Business Season 2 Episode 4, while Germany’s own Alexander Zverev was playing one of his biggest matches in his career, he suffered a very excruciating injury in the ankle. He tore all three of the lateral ligaments in his right ankle! Ouch! He then had to undergo surgery to fix his ankle, there was no guarantee that the surgery would get Zverev back to 100%. After the surgery, Zverev couldn’t do anything by himself, and he started to wonder if he would ever get back to his career in tennis. Luckily after 310 days, he was back on a tennis court playing one of the best players of the tournament, Daniil Medvedev.

Finally, Nick Kyrgios the ‘bad boy’ of tennis can’t seem to fit in at Wimbledon, the highest and most prestigious tournament in all of tennis, but through all doubts and all the hate he shrugged it off and just played the way he played. Kyrgios states,”I’m not gonna conform to a bunch of old rules. I don’t care who you are or what you are, because I know I’m not really accepted.” The nerve that Kyrgios has to have to say that on a show seen by millions is unmatched probably ever in the whole history of tennis. Even in the early rounds Kyrgios had  struggled playing his style of tennis with all the other people hating him and saying disrespectful things to him and his crew. His mind was not on the game, and instead was on his past and the hardships he faced as a boy, he almost lost an easy win match because of the crap people were saying to him. Eventually, he pushes through all the hate/hate messages and in Round 3 he ends up playing (at the time) World Number 4, Stefanos Tsitsipas. During the match, Kyrgios was being himself, arguing with everybody on and off the court, and making his opponent really angry. Both men each argue their case, if they did hit the ball in the crowd, if they didn't and aren’t getting penalized for it. Man, this has to be my favorite episode because of the drama and because it gives tennis a whole new level.

Overall, if I could watch any TV show, anytime, anywhere, I would watch BreakPoint without a doubt. On IMDB the show’s rating is 7.3/10 stars with 4.6K reviews. Personally, I would give it 9.5/10 stars. I am giving BreakPoint that rating because of the diverse way Karas followed different players so that it’s not just one person the whole season. Karas always keeped his content fresh and creative with his amazing work. To review, Karas follows a variety of  players throughout the year so, if there is a player you don’t like then you don’t have to see their face every single episode.

Happy Watching!
