Dear viewers,
Do you like pranking your coworkers? If so, then good for you I guess, but also, Brooklyn 99 is the perfect show for you. The show was made by Dan Goor and Michael Schur. Brooklyn 99 stars Andy Samberg as detective Jake Peralta, Andre Baugher as Captain Ray Holt, and Mellisa Fumero as Detective Amy Santiago. The show is based in the NYPD’s 99th precinct where there are detectives who are either solving crimes or who took all the coffee. Brooklyn 99 is awesome with a great mix of fun, excitement, and suspense. This is a great, funny, show that you should watch.
The show is good for ages 12+. Lots of people, including me, think Brooklyn 99 has great role models and diversity, but the show does have dark humor and a bit of 18+ references. It’s good for kids 12+ because the references usually start getting talked about when you’re around that age. If you and your kid are looking for a good new show Brooklyn 99 is a great option.
Brooklyn 99 has 8 action packed seasons so it will last you a long time. This show lasted me about 2 years watching only a couple of episodes a day. The first 2 or 3 episodes start off a bit slow, but then you get right into the action and the final episode has a great ending where Jake and Amy -Who are now married- leave the precinct. Amy keeps climbing up the NYPD ladder and Jake becomes a great dad. Brooklyn 99 will last you a long time and every episode is intriguing.
The themes of Brooklyn 99 are excitement, humor, and friendship. Excitement is in almost every episode while they solve crimes. Humor is always going to be in an episode. Friendship is also throughout the whole show, as Jake has friends and “friends”. You could also count suspense as a theme of Brooklyn 99, as the show has lots of cliffhangers and crimes that aren’t solved till much later in the show. Ultimately, Brooklyn 99 has Great themes that are good for fun episodes.
Brooklyn 99 is incredibly funny. The show can do that with extra episodes that only come around a few times in the show. One of my favorites is Halloween II. The Halloween episodes always have a heist that the detectives set up to try to steal something like a medal or a watch, and in each of them there is always something either so random or so, hilariously stupid that it makes you laugh. In the second Halloween episode, Captain Raymond explains to Jake how he pulled off the heist and Jake says “So how do you get the whole squad to betray me, what did you offer them” Captain Raymond then says, “I asked if they wanted to embarrass you and they instantly said yes.” This is a great example of a funny episode because would your friends plan a super elaborate heist only because they want to embarrass you, hopefully not, but for them they want to get a laugh. This scene shows Goors and Schurs trying to get a laugh out of you, and you will see their ability to do that come up all throughout the show. Brooklyn 99 is a super funny show to watch and I guarantee it will make you laugh.
Overall, Brooklyn 99 is a funny, exciting show and is great to watch. Brooklyn 99 teaches us valuable lessons, such as don’t trust everything you see. It will take a while to finish and will be a great show to watch over that time. If you are looking for a great show that you can watch with almost anybody, Brooklyn 99 is for you.
Keep watching,
Harry Brown
