The Son of Big Foot

Dear Bigfoot believers,

Getting a new haircut and your hair is growing back faster than you can finish an English essay? What about your feet getting almost twice as big right in front of your eyes? Well those are the symptoms, Adam the son of bigfoot, randomly experienced one day. The son of Bigfoot is a 2017 movie that’ll get you to laugh out tears of joy and sadness. Starring Pappy Faulkner as Adam, and Jeremy Degruson along with Ben Stassen as directors. This movie is based on Adam finding out his new abilities and having to learn how to use them to save the day.

In The Son of Bigfoot, Adam has no friends and has 3 bullies. One day,  after Adam got home from school he found out his dad was still alive. Feeling enraged for being lied to his whole life, and having new abilities, Adam decides to sneak out and  go on a mission to find his dad. When he wakes up after being saved by his dad, he gets terrified of seeing bigfoot. After realizing it really is his dad, he starts to understand his abilities and bonds with his dad.

The characters are what make a movie and in The Son of Bigfoot the characters are really something. For starters The villain, also known as Waltz, feels very generic, he doesn’t have a reason to hunt down Bigfoot other than just greed. In my opinion, Terrence Stones, -the guy who voiced Waltz- did very well capturing every emotion and aspect of the character, but it still doesn’t change my mind on where they could have given Waltz more of a reason for doing what he does. Adam, having to trust his dad, who he only just met, to understand his abilities should be just a bit hard for him, but this movie made it feel like they knew each other their entire lives, which is only half true. Some characters that I find well made are Bigfoot’s friends, Willbur, Trapper, and Tina. Willbur is a calm and collected bear that has no intentions of harm. Trapper is a raccoon, he is more egotistical, excited, and a funny character. Tina is a red squirrel, she is just more energetic. All of them help Adam save his dad because they know he would do the same for them even though they don’t actually know Adam is great and shows the bond between them and Bigfoot.

The story and the pacing of the movie is great. But one thing I don’t like about the story is why Bigfoot did not want to work with Waltz in the first place. Working with Waltz would have given him a better income and would make it easier for him to learn about his own DNA. It would be another thing if they were partners before or even if they met in school and didn’t like each other, but there was no real reason for Bigfoot not to work with him. After Bigfoot said no he did destroy all of his work but before that happened, he shouldn’t have a reason to say no.

The themes in the movie are humor, family, friendship, and persistence. Bigfoot is always trying to be funny except in serious times and Trapper is always trying to be funny including in serious times. Friendship was shown by how Bigfoot’s friends tried to help Bigfoot after realizing Bigfoot would do the same for them. Family was a big part of the movie, probably why it’s called The Son of Bigfoot and the sequel Bigfoot Family, Bigfoot wanted to protect his family, which is why he went into hiding and Adam wanted to be reunited with him. Waltz was very persistent in trying to capture Bigfoot for his DNA and greed, he even trapped Adam in a car and lit it up in flames to capture the attention of Bigfoot.

In conclusion The Son of Bigfoot is a movie you should definitely watch. This movie teaches us on important themes, for instance family. It will definitely make you laugh at least one time and might even make you a bit emotional.

Keep believing in Bigfoot,

Jose Alonso
