Dear power ranger enjoyers,
It’s Morphin time so get ready to experience Power Rangers Time Force, one of the greatest season of Power Rangers in the Saban era and in the whole show. Power Rangers Time force is the 9th power rangers season, a 40 episode season where a future police department known as “Time Force” follow Ransik, the main villain to the past, 2001. It was produced by Koichi Sakamoto, Kaizo Hayashi, Worth Keeter, Judd Lynn, Isaac Florentine, Yoshi Hosoya, Makoto Yokohama, and Jonathan Tzachor.
Ransik, a powerful villain gets captured by the Red Ranger, Alex, in the year 3001, marking the end of all evil mutants, you might think that’s how it ends but it's only the start. When Ransik is transported to the prison he says, “Ah… but the future is full of surprises”. Out of nowhere someone is seen laying in the middle of the street, it’s Ransik’s daughter, Nadira. The escorters go to her and check her for any signs of unconsciousness suddenly, they get ambushed and Ransik gets away. This part of the first episode shows how inexperienced the rangers are, just beginning to start their careers in time force. It also gives a bit of foreshadowing as to what will happen and irony
He then goes on to the prison to take over it, the Red Ranger tries to capture him there, creating an amazing fight scene but fails, he falls and dies, Ransik time travels back in time 1000 years, where there is no Time Force and no rangers to stop him. Jen with revenge lurking in her eyes, avoids orders and goes with her team to the past with intent of vengeance. Ransik going back in time clearly is supposed to be a joke with irony given what he had stated before.
After getting to 2001 and trying to face Ransik, came their first problem, to activate the morphers there needed to be a Red Ranger with the same DNA as Alex. Good luck for them, Wes, the son of one of the biggest millionaires, helps them fight. When Wes takes his motorcycle helmet off they are all in shock, he is identical to the Red Ranger, so they give him the morpher and they become the Time Force Rangers.
At the end of the season the 4 rangers from the future are forced to go back because it was destiny for both of the red rangers to die fighting. But before they get their memories of 2001 erased they go back to help their friend, which shows the bond between them given how they would risk the timeline and their lives just to save their friend. At the end you also see how Nadira had a change of heart and convinced her dad of letting go of the past and forgive.
When you finish a series and don’t watch it for a couple months you won’t remember every detail about it, but what will be written in stone in your head will be the theme song. Every Power Rangers series has the best music in the world and Power Rangers Time Force is in the top three. It's so good that I have it as my ringtone. Composed by Jeremy Sweet, lyrics written by Lior Rosner, and sung by Jasan Radford the theme song is arguably the best part of the show, with the guitar solo there’s no wonder why this is of the greatest music ever known to mankind, Jasan Radford cooked with the singing.
The actors did a great job at capturing the emotions behind the characters. Erin Cahill, the actor for Jen, the pink ranger, did an awesome job at capturing Jen’s emotions in every episode, sometimes she was feeling lost in her emotions, other times she was smiling and filled with joy. Kate Sheldon also did a fantastic job at acting as the spoiled daughter of the most powerful villain. Having a fake laugh can be hard but having a fake laugh loudly and instantly changing into an angered face is challenging but she dominated it every time.
In a Power Rangers season there are normally 5 power rangers at the start with some exceptions of only 3, so when they add the 6, 7, or even 5 more rangers it has to be special. In Power Rangers Time Force the 6th Ranger is Erik, also known as the quantum ranger. They used 2 episodes to give Erik his powers and an extra to introduce his mega sword, the Q-Rex. Making Wes go back in time with Erik, having to work together then fight each other and then helping each other again, gives us an understanding of Erik’s character and how he might not like Wes but isn’t willing to let him die.
The 5 rangers and the villains change throughout the story. At the start the show Jen gets engaged with Alex. Lucas, Trip, and Katie go on their first mission as part of time force. Ransik hates the human race, along with her daughter and frax. Throughout the story the Power Rangers become more experienced and build a stronger bond. On the other hand Frax betrays Ransik and stands up for himself, while Ransik becomes more loving of his daughter. In the last 2 episodes, “The End of Time Part 2” and, “The End of Time Part 3” you can see the bond between the rangers, especially how Wes and Erick became more of friends. You can also see the change in character that the Villains experience, though Ransik’s change felt rushed, you can see how his daughter actually felt a change in her hearth about hating humans, after listening to Frax.
Ultimately, in the end a Power Rangers show is there to teach us about good and bad, make us laugh, while also having a story that mostly kids can relate to while their parents can at the same time. This show really showed how people can change and that we should give a chance to everyone to prove themselves. I rate this show 10/5 Rangers.
Keep watching and may the power protect you,
Jose Alonso
