Dear listeners,
If you are looking for touching music about love and heartbreak, The album
Speak Now by Taylor Swift is one that you will love. This classic mix between pop
and country draws in a wide range of audiences from around the world, giving this
album a 4.6. Speak Now is the perfect balance between anger, love, happiness, and
sadness, which are things that anyone can relate to, no matter where you come from.
The album depicts the innocent life of a teenage girl, and will have you listening to
the album on repeat.
It has been 20 years since Swift started producing her music, and her journey has been
and will continue to be a never ending staircase. With a total of 324 awards, Swift is
currently the most celebrated artist in the world, and has been for the past few years.
She has won a total of 14 Grammys, 4 of them being album of the year which is one
of the biggest Grammy awards to be given. Equally impressive is that Swift has
written almost all of her songs by herself, only a handful were collaborations with
other artists wich is something that many people admire her for. Another thing that
makes her so popular is her ability to connect with listeners from around the world
through her lyrics and share a vulnerable part of her that so many other people have
also felt. I believe that Swift has proved throughout all of her albums that she deserves
every award that she has.
Although all of the songs in this album are well made, the one that stands out the most
to me is the song Speak Now because it captures all of the main emotions in the
album in one song. The story that Swift tells is about a man that she loves and who
she wants to marry, but he is marrying someone who she doesnt like. She is dreaming
about running away with him as she states in the lyrics when she sings, “So don’t say
yes run away now, I’ll meet you when your out of the church at the back door.” She
shows love for the man who is getting married, anger at the soon to be wife, and
sadness at the fact that she is losing the one that she loved. This song is extremely
special and important to the album Speak Now because of its many messages and its
outstanding lyrics.
The album Speak now is one that has captivated audiences around the world ever
since it came out and will continue to for a long time. The music shows the life of
adolescents and their feelings of love, heartbreak, anger, and sadness. All of these
things are emotions that everyone can relate to, no matter how old they are. Every
song has a slightly different feel to it which gives a lot of different options. Some are
faster like The Story of Us, some are happier like Sparks Fly, some are more country
like Mean, some are more pop like Speak Now, but all of them have something that is
the same in every song. All of the songs are made because of a guy that she is either in
love with or hates and all of the songs are somewhere in between pop and country
music. This is a great album with a lot of songs that all have great lyrics to go with
them.
There are many messages that Swift is trying to send through her music and they are
all ones that should be remembered. Some of the main ones are to never hold back, to
stay true to yourself, and to never let anyone else tell you what to do. These lessons
are all things that Swift has been through and she is trying to tell you her experience
with it. In one song called Mean, Swift talks about how she is better of without one of
her old boyfriends and how she would never let him push her around when she says in
the lyrics, “ someday, ill be, livin in a big ole city, and all your ever gonna be is
mean.” This is something that many women experience at some point throughout their
life so this song can help women find their voice and connect with Swifts experience.
While Speak Now is well made, it still does have some flaws. The albums songs may
all be different, the underlying messages are very similar and a bigger variety of
themes would have made the album more entertaining to listen to. Almost all of her
songs are depicting different emotions towards her different boyfriends, and that can
get repetitive at times. Another thing that Speak Now doesn’t do as well is describing
what happened that caused Swift to write a whole song about someone. Instead she
just describes how she feels which can get confusing. Providing more backround
information could help other people understand and better relate to her. Both of these
things would have made this album even better than it already is now.
Speak Now is an outstanding album and one that you will never get bored of listening
to. Swifts ability to share a part of herself and her true emotions through her lyrics and
send a good message at the same time is one reason why she has been so popular
throughout the years. Whether you are old or young, whether you live across the
world, Speak Now has something for everyone.
Sincerely,
Maddie
