Wicked

Wicked more like WickMID

To whom this may concern, we’ve all heard about the “Life changing” movie Wicked but does it live up to hype. Wicked is about a wizard who was untapped potential and she will eventually use her powers to revolt against the Wizard of Oz. The producers of the film are Marc Platt and David Stone who really did a spectacular job writing the script and hiring the cast members. So let’s dive I and see what people really think about Wicked.

Wicked is about a Wizard (Elphaba played by Cynthia Erivo ) who was born with green skin which had made her life difficult but when she got older her sister was born, her sister got offers to go to Shiz University and her sister Elphaba came with her and Elphaba accidentally used her hidden magic but the Dean of the school Madame Morrible took responsibility and offered Elphaba private lessons with her. Therefore that triggered Glinda (played by Ariana Grande ) to talk to Madame Morrible to see if she could take the lessons with her too. Sadly Madame Morrible declined. Eventually Glinda and Elphaba lived in the same dorm and she taught Elphaba how to be popular. Also the teachers ( who were talking animals ) Kept loosing there ability to speak which made Elphaba very concerned. Never the less Elphaba had untapped potential with her magic she went to see the wizard who supposedly is the strongest sorcerer in all of oz. So when they went to Emerald City to meet him they had found out that he had been the one harming the animal teachers so Elphaba Started to read a spell from the strongest spell book and started flying on a broom and went into the clouds and The movie ended there! That was the most horrible ending I have ever seen. The movie was perfectly planned and executed all the way up until the ending!

In the end it ended up feeling really incomplete and entirely too long at a end time of 2 hours and 40 minutes. Some other people think it to like when UniquePartical states “I genuinely wanted to love this film and was so disappointed with it in the end. I really enjoyed the West End play and so was keen to see this version. Boy did it drag. It was about 1 hour too long. The set was lovely, the characters were ok and some of the songs were upbeat enough to engage, but overall it just wasn't captivating enough. I didn't even like most of the musical score. At times it actually made me cringe and I wished for it to end. I know most people seem to love it, but I just couldn't. I tried, but I wanted to escape by the second hour. It was just far too long and not captivating enough to keep me interested.” And also when thisislandcinephile states “Throughout the progression of the film, I kept waiting for the moment when the movie became an instant classic in my books. Unfortunately, it never did. With a 2-hour and 40-minute run-time, Wicked left me feeling drained. The vocals of the leads were immaculate, the props were grand, but it still felt incomplete.” Which helps me show my point how Wicked doesn’t really live up to the hype.

Another thing is that Ariana Grande has been getting a lot of hate for playing the role as Glinda like when a fan page came together to say how she wasn’t fit for the role. They were particularly saying how she is still a very skilled and talented actress and singer but she lacks the amount of “oomph” that it takes to play the role of Glinda. She did a spectacular job playing her but her personality and acting skills aren’t quite fit for Glinda. On the other hand Cynthia Erivo who played Elphaba had received nothing but love from the audience. She had excellent vocal training and her acting skills are perfect. I haven’t personally seen any other of her films but this one alone is phenomenal.

The theme of this movie is that even knowing you are different doesn't mean you can’t accomplish amazing things. In the beginning Elphaba got criticized for having green skin and everyone was in shock like in early in the movie she exclaimed “ No I am not seasick, no I did not eat seaweed as a kid, and yes I’ve always been green.” This shows how she has heard all of the accusations about her said by others. Therefore when she arrived at Shiz people were judging and thought that she was a weird green person. But little did know this was when she showcased her powers and went on to be a powerful wizard even stronger that the (supposedly) strongest Wizard Of Oz. This shows even after being ridiculed for being green she ended up being the strongest in all of oz.

So if you like musicals, fantasy, and absolutely terrible endings! This movie is definitely for you.

But this movie is most definitely over hyped and doesn’t really have a good enough ending to be hyped up as much as it was. But there were definitely some amazing parts like Defying Gravity which was an impeccable song. But when it comes down to the question, is the movie worth watching? If you hate long movies this is not for you but other than that the movie is worth watching all the up unti
