Avatar: Fire and Ash

 Dear viewers,

There have been some great movie releases in 2025, such as The F1 movie and Mission Impossible-the Final Reckoning. But Avatar: Fire and ash was my favorite among the three. James Cameron, a living legend, has made some amazing movies. For example, Aliens, the Terminator series, and the Titanic movie. But not only has Cameron revolutionized 3d technology with the Avatar series, he explores how important family is during certain times.

If you’ve watched the first 2 movies, you know that Cameron starts with a peaceful setting, then a foe appears that drives the characters into disarray. And he always ends with a fight. One thing I dislike about this movie is that the first 30 minutes of it kind of wraps up Avatar; way of Water. But after that, it starts to ramp up fast. A good part about the movie is that you can see how the main character Jake develops throughout the movie and how he realizes how important family is in tough times.

The theme of this movie is that you can get through anything as long as you have family with you. For example, when Kiri and the others got separated from their parents, they were able to survive getting attacked by the fire tribe and gave Spider the ability to breathe the air. In addition, Kiri wouldn’t have been able to communicate with Eywa if Spider and Tuk weren’t there by her side.

Avatar: Fire and Ash has won some major awards, and I don’t blame them. The first of 2 awards was the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Visual Effects because when I watched it, It felt like it was a real current event. It was also an AFI Movie of the year in 2025 along with Wicked: For Good and Sinners. That means it was one of the 10 best movies in 2025. Also, it is rated 66% fresh on rotten tomatoes from critics and 90% hot on the popcorn meter from the audience.

Does it fit all age groups? You might ask. It fits the majority of age groups but probably not the best for kids seven and under because of all the blood and violence in it.

There are a few details that I enjoy and dislike. A few details I enjoy is that Cameron gave Spider the ability to breathe the air on Pandora, totally unexpected. In addition, another major detail I enjoyed was during the final battle, Kiri was able to communicate with Eywa so she could command the animals to attack the sky people, evidently the reason the Na’Vi won the battle. Although there are a lot of good parts in the movie, there is always room for improvement. For example, I wish Cameron had the wind traders do more other than taking the Sully family and getting ambushed by the fire tribe.

After watching the Avatar movies, I realized something. First, the backstory of the sky people is that Earth has run out of natural resources and they have to find another planet to live on, then, they find Pandora, full of natural resources, but there are the Na’Vi and the toxic air. After letting this sink in for a while, this could actually be what we become if humans keep doing what we’re doing and we have to find another planet to live on, hopefully one that doesn’t have toxic air and natives that want to kill you.

To conclude, Avatar: Fire and Ash is an engaging and action packed movie that is a must watch for many ages. In addition, it has an amazing plot that keeps you at the edge of your seat for the whole time. But, it also makes you realize that we as humans have been destroying our planet due to global warming and depleting earth’s natural resources and might have to find another planet to live on. But always remember that family is the most important part of your life. Happy watching!

Sincerely,

Kai
