A Funny Family Christmas Classic
Dear viewers,
Home Alone 1 is the best Christmas movie ever. It has multiple lessons including about the importance of family that left me balling my eyes out on my couch. Home Alone directed by Chris Columbus, is about a young boy named Kevin who is played by Macaulay Culkin. Kevin wishes his family would disappear and the next morning he wakes up and his whole family is gone. His family accidentally left him at the house while they went on a trip to France. Kevin overhears two burglars that were talking about robbing his house. To protect his house Kevin places traps all over the property to try to stop the burglars. In the end the police took the two men to jail and Kevin was reunited with his family.
This movie is an overall classic that has so many good parts. It is hard to find a favorite part, but if I had to choose one it would be when Kevin finds out his family is gone and he starts to celebrate. He dances around the house, jumps on his parents bed, and makes a giant ice cream sundae. This part is good because it is hilarious to see Kevin doing every kid's dream when they are home alone. Additionally one of my favorite scenes is when the burglars named Marv and Harry, played by Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci fall for Kevin's traps. It's so funny seeing the two burglars go through so much pain and see Kevin get justice and protect his home.
It's not only the McCallisters that had a heart warming family reunion in Home Alone. Their next door neighbor old man Marley also got reunited with his loved ones. Marley was played by Roberts Blossom and he was wrongly accused of being the south bend shovel slayer who was rumored to kill people with his snow shovel and keep the bodies in his trash can of salt. He was not on good terms with his son and Kevin helped him gain the confidence to call his son. This movie has multiple examples of the importance of family which makes it all the more powerful and heartwarming.
With all of its amazing lessons and plot twists and turns Home Alone takes you on a journey through Kevin’s Christmas adventures when he is home alone. It’s a movie for the ages that should be a part of all family Christmas movie nights. It doesn't matter how many times you watch this movie it never gets old and will always be a true classic.
