Home Alone Yet Not All Alone

Dear viewers, 

Home Alone, directed by Chris Columbus, is one of the most historic and best Christmas movies of all time. Chris Columbus has directed many other famous movies, including Mrs. Doubtfire, and a few Harry Potter movies. Also, many Actors from Home Alone, including Catherine O’Hara, are in many other popular movies. In this tall tale, the chaotic family of the Macalisters left their youngest boy Kevin -played by Macaulay Culkin- at home, and flew all the way to Paris. Harry and Marv were crooks who raided homes when people were away. Harry and Marv noticed that just the kid was all alone. Kevin had to defend himself from the burglars by using his own tactics and swindling tricks. 

I would give this movie 10 lacrosse balls out of 10. I would personally recommend this movie to any person who loves a good laugh and a lot of fun. First of all, it is the best Christmas movie that has ever been made. It is so funny that O’Hara, thinking she may be missing something, gets on the airplane, and simply doesn’t even realize that her son is by himself at home. Also, the burglars act like the dumbest people. They fall for all of Kevin's tricks.

One of the parts that makes this movie soooo amazing, is that it is unrealistic in some parts. As an example, It is crazy that a parent would leave their 8 year old son at home during Christmas time. At first, Kevin is happy to be left alone. Soon after, he realizes that he loves his family, and he would do anything to be with them. In real life, the kid would have gone to the police station and told them that he was home alone. Afterward, the burglars would have been caught, and Kevin could go back to living his old life as an eight year old. One of my favorite parts is when Kevin went to the store to buy groceries and did his laundry (not normal for an 8 year old). Harry and Marv -played by Daniel Stone and Joe Pesci- were just plainly senile in all of their decisions. The watcher knows what’s next and they face dramatic Irony. For example, the two thieves were making fun of the kid as he was holding a BB gun through the dog door, right at them. 

Chris Columbus is arguably the best director that the movie world has ever seen. Mrs. Doutbfire gives anyone a laugh. Furthermore, a few of the biggest movies that he has conducted, are the first two Harry Potter movies. Harry Potter is the number 1 best-selling book series ever. To be directing a movie on such a big book is a huge accomplishment and honor. Regardless, even after directing all those movies, his biggest success is still Home Alone.

Home Alone is different from all the other Christmas movies. The movies are all just getting cheesy and no one wants to watch them. As an example, all the new Christmas  movies are just creepy love stories. Christmas Chronicles is just embarrassing compared to this film. Home Alone is unlike those movies. It is one of those movies that is just watchable over, and over, and over again. Home Alone is a classic. There are few other movies that can compete with Home Alone. Ever since 1990, people have begged for the time when they get to watch this movie. This movie is a thriller, a suspenseful movie that keeps you guessing. 

The theme of Home Alone is to not take anything for granted. Kevin said that he didn’t want his family and that he didn’t like them. After they were gone, he realized how much he missed them being around. Also, If Kevin wasn’t a pain to his family the night before, then maybe he would have been going to Paris with them. Kevin didn’t realize that family is one of the most powerful things. Therefore, this movie teaches people to always love the ones you are closest with, and to be grateful for always being around them.

The sequel to Home Alone is Home Alone 2. Again, Kevin’s parents made a mistake and this time Kevin went off to New York. The bandits got out of jail and soon found the kid alone in the streets. Kevin had to save himself and the city from the terrible bandits. He was separated from his family in Florida. Subsequently, Kevin met an old homeless lady who seemed scary at first but turned out to be a gentle giant. Kevin used her help to catch and trap Harry and Marv forever. After the first two great movies, there are four more. Those four movies (Home Alone 3, Home Alone 4, Home Alone: The Holiday Heist, and Home Sweet Home Alone) are not directed by Chris Columbus. I started to watch Home Alone 3 thinking it would be like the others. Of course, It was not. I started to watch it, and I couldn’t finish it. Based on the thoughts and reviews of other people, I realized it was not worth finishing that movie. Home Alone 2 can not be seen without watching the original Home Alone. 

All in all, Home Alone is one of the best Christmas movies that has ever been put on screen. First of all, this blockbuster is the second highest grossing Christmas movie of all time behind The Grinch. According to Martha Stewart and Sydney Wingfield, “GameTop determined that the most-loved Christmas movie in the country is Home Alone. A fan-favorite since 1990, this film is still capturing the hearts of many. It had 637,260 average monthly searches, according to GameTop.” This shows, Home Alone is one of the best movies of all time because it is the Christmas movie with the most searches.

This movie fills me and my family each time we watch it with joy. We have a tradition to watch it each year and it keeps getting better. Every time you watch this  amazing movie, you find something new to laugh about and share with others. In conclusion, Home Alone is one of the best Christmas movies because of what it is and what it has become.
